Overweight Richard Cooey Gets Executed In Ohio

Posted on: October 14, 2008

Overweight inmate Richard Cooey was executed in Ohio on Tuesday morning when his argument that he was too overweight to be executed was denied. At 5 foot 7 inches and 267 pounds, 41 years old Richard, through his lawers, had filed an appeal that it was not humane to execute him in this condition. He had argued that he was on medication to manage his obesity and that this would adversely impact his execution through a lethal injection.

Cooey underwent a pre-execution test on Tuesday morning. He passed it and then by 10:28 am, he was declared executed and dead.

Richard Cooey was charged for kidnapping, raping and murdering 2 students of The University of Akron, Dawn McCreery, 20, and Wendy Offredo, 21in 1986.

Ironic.. he was tested to make sure he was “healthy” enough to be “executed?” If he had failed it, would the authorities have given him time to.. recover?

I’m all for his execution but the testing? What a joke! And this test was done, I’m sure, at taxpayer’s expense!

This is actually sad.. I mean, a person tries his best to avoid death.. but he attains it anyway, be it through execution or naturally. God, this is a sad post.
