Financial expert and best selling author Suze Orman has come out openly and strongly against Florida’s Amendment 2. This Amendment 2 will be voted for next month by Florida’s electorate and will need 60% support to be passed. If passed next month, Florida’s Amendment 2 will constitutionally ban Gay and Lesbian marriages and any civil unions in the state.

Orman who is gay and hosts a financial advice program on CNBC warned that passing of Amendment 2 will have far reaching effects on unmarried couples, seniors as well as gays and lesbians. Many individuals don’t marry again so that they could keep receiving Pension and Health benefits. Orman said that such people may not be able to sustain themselves if Amendment 2 is implemented.

Earlier in 2007, Suze Orman had revealed that she was a lesbian and had been with her partner Kathy Travis for seven years then. Since this revelation, the media has focused a lot on Orman’s statements regarding her inability to marry Kathy Travis.
