Hi,
As a Christian I do not believe in ghosts as being the spirits of the dead. Christ explained that there are only two destinations for the departed spirit: Heaven and Hell. Think of Hell as a Maximum Security Prison for all the very vilest, sickest, twisted spirits and you would have “The Fallen Ones”, Satan and his Angels. Hell was designed especially for them. Unfortunately, and this is what breaks God’s heart, anyone who doesn’t come to the Lord Jesus Christ, is destined to be a part of this terrible place forever. An eternity of seperation from God, for once they are there they can never leave and there is nothing inbetween. Jesus is the only gateway to the Kingdom of Heaven. Now, tell me,
if you were put into a maximum security prison for a vile crime, do you honestly think that the Governor of that nick would let you out from time to time to see your loved ones and friends?
Heaven on the other hand is so wonderful that, once a soul is there it doesn’t want to return to the trials and tribulations of this world. “No eye has seen, nor ear has heard, the wonders of the Kingdom of Heaven.” Christ’s apostles asked Him once what Heaven was like and He could not tell them for there are no reference points here on earth to compare with. He said that there are sights and colours we could not even imagine. Scents and tastes we could not possibly comprehend. And music, the likes of which is totally indescribable. Its a place of eternal light and no shadows. Everything has its own lunminosity for God is light. And there is everlasting peace and joy, not happiness, for happiness depends on happenings and are short lived. Joy is forever. Tell me, would you want to leave all that and far, far more, to come back here? No, I do not believe that ghosts are the spirits of the dearly departed, they are something else, something that immitates these souls.
I do have a ghost story myself though. Just two months ago, I was sat with my seven year old daughter in the car in the Asda car-park, waiting for my wife. I was parked, legally, in a disabled bay which are marked out in four spaces to a bay. We watched as a Daimler Jaguar pulled into a space besides mine. Both my daughter and I clearly saw two elderly people in it, the man driving and what we assumed was his wife. We idly watched as the man got out of the car and locked it. He then proceeded towards the supermarket. I looked back to the car, again idly, and was surprised to see it completely empty. Remember it was parked right beside me so I could see right into it and it was broad daylight. I looked around me to see if the old girl had gone to get a trolly, but if she had, her better half showed no signs of waiting for her and besides, the trolly shelters near us were devoid of people. The old woman was absolutely nowhere to be seen and there had been no time at all for her to have moved away from the car so fast without me at least clocking her for I had a perfect, 360 degree vision from where I was sat. I do believe there is definitely something, just not the souls of the dear departed.
